Through it, Nueva Pescanova tells the story of overcoming\nand dreams realized which takes place in the small coastal town of L\u00fcderitz,\nwhich has been reborn thanks to the promotion of the Spanish multinational through\nits subsidiaries Novanam and Lalandii.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is the\nfirst edition of the <a href=\"https:\/\/divem.accem.es\/premios-divem-a-las-empresas-socialmente-responsables\/\">DIVEM\nAwards:<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/divem.accem.es\/premios-divem-a-las-empresas-socialmente-responsables\/\">\nSocially Responsible Company<\/a>, and its award ceremony took place on November\n28. These awards are part of a project developed by Accem with the financing of\nthe Ministry of Labor, Migrations and Social Security and the European Social\nFund. Its objective is to recognize companies committed to diversity, equal\nopportunities and non-discrimination in the workplace. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe are proud to\nreceive this award which reflects the firm commitment of the Nueva Pescanova\nGroup to the sustainability of natural resources and the communities in which\nwe operate,\u00b7 says Tesa D\u00edaz-Faes, Communications Director of the Nueva\nPescanova Group. \u201cRespect for the Planet and the Communities where we are\npresent, the people who make up the Nueva Pescanova Group and the commitment to\nthe markets through our products are the pillars that form our Corporate Social\nResponsibility strategy,\u201d she adds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>DIVEM explains\nthat the multinational has been awarded \u201cdue to promoting the creation of\nwealth and employment in the developing countries where it operates and which\ndirectly affects migratory processes. And due to showing this kind of\ninitiative to other citizens from the viewpoint of empowerment of these\ncommunities.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Along with Nueva\nPescanova, Coca-Cola European Partners Iberia, Endesa, Huete &amp; Co, Tiebel,\nAlimerka and the Provincial Association of Installation Companies of Seville\n(EPYME) have also been recognized.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>About \u201cThe\nCity Born from the Sea\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe City Born\nFrom the Sea\u201d is an audiovisual project including&nbsp; <a href=\"https:\/\/vimeo.com\/320718462\">a\n30-minute documentary<\/a> and 7 clips lasting 1 minute which narrate the\nprogress of L\u00fcderitz. The protagonist is Nelago Kwedhi, the first woman from\nNamibia to receive the title of ship captain. The documentary shows the path\nshe follows from her birthplace in the north of the country, in Ondanwga, to\nL\u00fcderitz, guided by the call of the sea in search of a better future. It is a\nstory of overcoming, of dreams realized, of respect for nature and of the\nvalues with which Nueva Pescanova identifies itself as a company.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>L\u00fcderitz, a small\nabandoned town in Namibia between the desert and the sea, has been reborn\nthanks to the momentum of the fishing industry after the arrival of the Nueva\nPescanova Group almost 30 years ago. Since then, the company has boosted its\ngrowth through the development of infrastructures and services to cover the\nentire community, making it a groundbreaking company in&nbsp; terms of equality and sustainability. This\nfact, along with the development of the fishing sector, has turned L\u00fcdertiz\ninto a land of opportunity where people and the progress&nbsp; of their communities come first. The life of\nthis town has been reactivated and it now offers work, education and\nopportunities to people who decide to grow within it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>More than 2,000\npeople are currently working for Nueva Pescanova in Namibia, which offers\nscholarships for the children of its employees and has built homes,\nkindergartens and playgrounds. In L\u00fcderitz, in addition to fishing ships, about\n1,500 people work in the Nueva Pescanova Group factory, which has become the\nlargest hake processing center in Africa.
