Chapela,\u00a02 May\u00a02017.-\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>The factory of\u00a0NovaNam, a subsidiary of the Nueva Pescanova Group, in\u00a0L\u00fcderitz (Namibia), has hosted an\u00a0event\u00a0to celebrate\u00a0the 27 years of history of the multinational company in that country. The event was presided by\u00a0the Minister of Fisheries and Marine Resources\u00a0of Namibia, Bernhard Esau, who has highlighted the “brave decision taken by Pescanova, in 1990, to invest in the country\u00a0and to promote the development of the\u00a0fishing industry in the region.” The event\u00a0was\u00a0also attended by the\u00a0Ambassador of Spain in Namibia, Conception Figuerola; the Governor of the Region, Lucia Basson;\u00a0and the Chief Fisheries Officer\u00a0of the Nueva Pescanova Group, David Troncoso.<\/p>\n

Some of the milestones of the company were highlighted at this event, as it was the decision to turn the factory of L\u00fcderitz\u00a0into one of the largest\u00a0hake processing plants in Africa.\u00a0A fact that\u00a0has had a significant impact, from an economic and social point of view, in the development of the community over the years. Today, NovaNam\u00a0provides dignified employment to 2,100 people\u00a0in the country, 18,000 of them are based at the factory in L\u00fcderitz, in the region of Karas, in the south of Namibia, and 300 people at the factory of Walvis Bay, in the west of the country.<\/p>\n

Another milestone\u00a0has been the effort of the\u00a0\u00a0Nueva Pescanova Group and\u00a0NovaNam\u00a0to train and develop \u00a0its employees.\u00a0In line with this message,\u00a0the company announced the roll-out of the NovaNam Bursary Programme. which over the next 3 years will benefit the\u00a0children of employees of the subsidiary, fund\u00a0\u00a0tertiary studies at the Namibian University of Science and Technology and also secondary schooling.<\/p>\n

Last of all,\u00a0 Minister\u00a0Esau applauded\u00a0NovaNam\u2019s initiative\u00a0to promote and sponsor the publishing of a book on the history of L\u00fcdertiz, a town whose history is closely linked with the history of NovaNam in Namibia. It is worth mentioning that Pescanova has generated wealth and well-being in\u00a0this town, which has seen how its population has developed thanks to the presence of the Group, which not only has created jobs, but also by setting up of a nursery\u00a0for the children of its employees, shops, urban planning, proper housing, as well as providing top responsibility jobs for locals, etc. which have contributed to improve their living conditions over all these years.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
