Nueva Pescanova Group is the leading Spanish company in terms of sustainability and responsible practices, according to the World Benchmarking Alliance ranking

  • It has been ranked sixth in the global Ocean Benchmark, which assesses the world’s 125 most influential companies based on their responsible practices and their contribution to sustainable ocean management.
  • The company ranks first among fishing companies worldwide and third among food companies, behind only Nestlé and Mowi.

  • WBA has published the results of its biennial assessment of 2,000 companies in areas such as ecosystem improvement and green transition, affordable and sustainable food, respect for human rights, and gender equality.

Vigo, 2 February 2026. – The Nueva Pescanova Group is the leading Spanish company in sustainable ocean and coastal ecosystem management and is ranked sixth globally in the Ocean Benchmark 2026. According to the classification system established by the non-profit organisation World Benchmarking Alliance (WBA), the company also ranks first among fishing companies and third among food companies, behind only Nestlé and Mowi. The WBA evaluates the world’s 125 largest companies based on their socially responsible practices and their contribution to sustainable ocean management.

WBA has recently published the results of its biennial assessment of the world’s most influential companies. The assessment covers areas such as ecosystem improvement and green transition, affordable and sustainable food, respect for human rights, and gender equality. These areas are divided into different rankings based on levels of compliance and commitment.

Not only does the Nueva Pescanova Group hold top ranks in the Ocean Benchmark, but it also performed exceptionally well in the Nature Benchmark, which ranks the 750 most influential global companies based on their actions to improve ecosystems. In this ranking, the Nueva Pescanova Group is once again the leading Spanish company – among the six evaluated – and the second-ranked fishing company worldwide.

The Group also stands out in the Food and Agriculture Benchmark, which evaluates the sustainable management of the world’s top 350 companies in the food sector. Once again, Nueva Pescanova ranks as the leading Spanish company and top fishing company.

The results obtained in the Just Transition Benchmark, an innovative tool that evaluates companies’ ability to integrate best practices in social equity, inclusion, and decent work within the green transition context, are also highly significant. In this ranking, the Nueva Pescanova Group achieved an excellent result, positioning itself in the top 1% of the 1,600 companies assessed.
