Vigo, 30 September 2026.- Nueva Pescanova Group has completed the divestment of its chilled products business in France through its sale to the Ecuadorian group Omarsa, which focuses on the production of vannamei shrimp.

Nueva Pescanova retains ownership of its frozen products division, which will continue to operate in the French market through its subsidiary Pescanova France.

This transaction is part of the strategic asset review process initiated by the Group at the beginning of the year, with the aim of seeking greater efficiency and driving value creation, in line with the strategy implemented in recent years, which has enabled the company to return to positive net profit.

With the sale of the chilled products division to the Grupo Omarsa, Nueva Pescanova has prioritised finding a stable long-term investor to ensure the continuity of the business and preserve employment, as the agreement entails the transfer of all employees of the chilled products division.

At the same time, this transaction will help drive the future growth of this division, as the Grupo Omarsa is a leading operator in the sector. The Ecuadorian company owns its own vannamei shrimp farms in Ecuador and is currently expanding in Europe.

This specialization will enable both divisions to be promoted separately, creating value for both companies.

Sandro Coglitore, CEO of the Grupo Omarsa, states: “The transaction represents an important strategic entry for Omarsa into the French chilled shrimp market, strengthening our relationships with foodservice and retail customers in the region.  The acquisition presents a good fit with our growth plans to become a global vertically integrated shrimp player”.
