In Vigo, on October 18, 2018.- The CSR director of the Nueva Pescanova Group, Ángel Matamoro, along with Marta Otero, director of the Industrial Center of Chapela belonging to the Group, and the chairwoman of Down Vigo, María del Carmen López, have signed a collaboration agreement in order to achieve the full labor integration of people with Down Syndrome or Intellectual Disability who are part of the Employment Service with support from the association.
Through this agreement, the Nueva Pescanova Group seeks to promote the integration of these users into society, providing their training by carrying out internships at their centers. Among them, the agreement includes the Industrial Center of Chapela, located in Redondela (Pontevedra). This has a production capacity of 19,000 mt per year and is specialized in the manufacturing of surimi products, both frozen and refrigerated.
“This collaboration agreement is part of a long-term commitment of the Group, which encompasses different initiatives and programs to promote diversity and equal opportunities for all employees”, explained Ángel Matamoro, CSR director of the Nueva Pescanova Group.
Down Vigo is a non-profit organization which is intended to improve the quality of life of people who have this condition, promoting the effective exercising of their rights, duties, and fundamental freedoms for comprehensive development as people thanks to fully social inclusion.
