Contribution to sustainable development
The SDGs guide our efforts to protect the environment and improve lives. Through our Responsible Action Programme (RAP), we track projects across the Group and measure their impact on the SDGs.
The results of these actions are highlighted in the Nueva Pescanova Group’s Contribution to Sustainable Development Reports from 2022, with previous reports available from 2021, 2020, 2019 and 2018.
Aligned with the UN 2030 Agenda
At the Nueva Pescanova Group, we view the UN 2030 Agenda as a roadmap to address global challenges. Its 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) highlight the private sector’s role in driving productivity, inclusive growth, and job creation.
We align our strategy with these goals, track our progress, and aim to create lasting, positive impacts for people and the planet.
UN Global Compact
As members of the Spanish Global Compact Network, we support the UN Global Compact, the world’s largest initiative for responsible business.
We have adopted its 10 Principles on Human Rights, Labour Rights, the Environment, and Anti-Corruption, embedding them into our strategy, governance, and daily operations. This strengthens a culture of integrity and responsibility, grounded in leading international agreements.
Sustainable Ocean Principles
Healthy oceans are essential, and businesses must act to protect them. We have endorsed the Sustainable Ocean Principles integrating their 9 commitments and supporting the 5 goals for a thriving ocean.
Our focus is on sustainable seafood, ensuring full traceability for all PESCANOVA products, whether from our own operations or trusted suppliers. We also participate in the Global Dialogue on Seafood Traceability (GDST), adopting and contributing to its standards.
Commited to Protecting Biodiversity
We recognise that biodiversity is essential for healthy ecosystems, sustainable fisheries, and resilient food systems, providing vital services such as nutrient cycling, carbon sequestration, water purification, and coastal protection.
Through responsible practices and partnerships with environmental organisations and local communities, we protect habitats, minimise ecosystem impacts, and support conservation projects. These efforts help halt biodiversity loss, strengthen ecosystem resilience, and preserve natural resources for future generations.
Climate ambition
The climate crisis is one of today’s greatest challenges.
Following the UN Global Compact’s call for action, we aim to reach net zero carbon emissions by 2040. Our decarbonisation plan includes improving energy efficiency, shifting to renewable energy, reducing emissions, and offsetting what cannot yet be eliminated.
